Having released 8 players today Sheffield Wednesday have offered new contracts to 2 other players whose contracts are set to expire before the start of next season.

Goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has been the Owls number one for two seasons and despite concerns about his injury record when he first signed the former Liverpool stopper has hardly missed a game due to injury during his spell at Hillsborough. Stuart Gray and the Owls are set to speak to the player and his representatives with a view to keeping the keeper on the books.

Jose Semedo will also be offered a new deal. The midfielder, who has had spells as captain of the side during his 3 seasons at S6 missed the last couple of months of the season due to injury but prior to that he had started to form a promising midfield partnership with Kieran Lee under Stuart Gray's fresh approach. Semedo is a popular player and has often expressed how much he has enjoyed playing his part at the club.

Further to the offers for Kirkland and Semedo, the Owls are also hoping to have discussions with central defensive pair Glenn Loovens and Oguchi Onyewu, both of whom featured for the Owls having joined on short-terms contracts during the past season.

With plenty of players to be replaced it is set to be a busy summer ahead at Hillsborough as Stuart Gray looks to develop his own team.
