Trip to Rochdale up next
Sheffield Wednesday’s reward for progressing to the 2nd round of the League Cup is a trip to Rochdale. The Owls saw off League Two Walsall on penalties after a 0-0 draw on Saturday while League One Rochdale beat Championship side Huddersfield 1-0. Dale are managed by former Wednesday player Brian Barry-Murphy. The second round tie will take place during the week commencing 14th September.
With the early stages of the Carabao Cup being played in quick succession in September, the draw for the 3rd round was also made. If Wednesday can beat Rochdale then they will face either Premier League Fulham or League One Ipswich Town in the following round.
