Boss' big Blues plan

Wednesday's final major pre-season game should put foundations in place for the start of the season down at Ipswich and Laws admits everything is to play for despite the nature of the Blues game.

The Owls' pre-season started well with wins over Halifax and Chesterfield with an unbeaten tour in Holland sandwiched in-between although Wednesday have suffered poor defeats at Port Vale and Oldham since.

Laws told the club's official site: "During pre-season our aims and objectives are not the results but to get the players fit and free from injury. Now we approach the last week, where we set things in stone.

"We put the defence, midfield and strike partnerships together for this game - it will be the start of those situations to prepare us for a difficult task at Ipswich, our first away match of the season."

Deon Burton is set to miss the game with a knee injury he picked up at Oldham although he should be fit for the first game of the season.

It has also been revealed that Burton should not be banned for three games after the club have studied the referee's report in the game where he got sent off in Holland.
