Boss demands Liverpool deadline

The Wednesday manager is still waiting on a verdict from Liverpool in regards to a season-long loan for the England Under-21 goalkeeper.

Carson was mightily impressive at Wednesday last season and his form has put him on the brink of the full England World Cup squad after being named as the standby goalkeeper.

Sturrock understands Reds' boss Rafael Benitez's situation with his club's season being extended by the FA Cup final and then the obvious scouting in Germany but the Scot cannot afford to keep waiting - and has given his counterpart a deadline believed to be in the middle of June.

And with the injured David Lucas not yet signed to a new deal despite mulling one over, the search for a new goalkeeper may have to take a few more twists and turns before one is confirmed before the start of the season.
