Boss on striker signing

The Owls manager was already missing Lee Peacock and now both Andy Talbot and Adam Proudlock have been ruled out for considerable time.

Peacock has been out of action for nearly two months now and Proudlock missed the shameful FA Cup defeat to Swindon with a groin strain and will be out for around three weeks.

That left Sturrock giving Kirk from Coronation Street look-alike Talbot his first start although he broke his hand in a minor car crash and played with a light cast.

Now that Jon Shaw has left the club, only Steve MacLean is the only forward who Sturrock can pick from, and although he can always play Lee Bullen in attack, he acknowledges he will have to enter the loan market.

He said: "I’ll have to start looking for a striker now, that leaves me with Steve so it's obvious I'll have to do something.

"When you end up asking a boy with a broken hand to play, it's not what we should be doing although I thought he did ok and has shown signs he will be a good player for us if he's given a chance to develop."
