Bullen praises Lucas - exclusive

The Owls custodian has been immense all season and sometimes looks out of place in the third tier of the English game.

Wednesday’s stand-in skipper is a massive fan of the former Preston stopper, and believes his form is the cornerstone to The Owls’ success.

He told Footymad: "There is a lot of confidence surrounding the whole team at the moment but the back four especially but David has been outstanding all season and as a defender looking back and seeing that green shirt come out to pluck crosses out of the air is the best feeling in the world.

"The defenders may be taking a bit of the credit but he has to take more."

On the clash against The Robins, Bullen believes that Wednesday were the better of the two sides in previous meetings between the clubs this season - but no one will remember that.

He adds: "If you look at both games performance wise, we were the better team but at the end of the season all people will look at are 4-1 and 3-2 losses. But we have to get three points as it keeps the pressure on the teams above us. If we keep getting results then other clubs will be looking over their shoulders so hopefully on Saturday we can keep our run going."

Defender Richard Wood says there is no point Wednesday looking at previous meetings with Town and hopes the players keep getting the backing from the Hillsborough faithful.

He says: "The two games against Swindon are behind us now and we have to look into the future. We are on a great run at the moment and we all want it to go further. The fans see that we are doing well at the moment and hopefully they continue getting behind us because that will make our push for promotion all the easier."

Hot shot Steve MacLean agrees and says that the players will have to carry on their good run of current form to beat Andy King’s men.

He said: "It is a big game against Swindon, we have had two bad results against them this season so we owe them one so to speak but we will be going all out for the three points and we are looking forward to it. But if we play like we have been doing recently, we should do well."
