Bullen's promise to Owls fans

The new right-back who will be a real crowd favourite for his endeavour and enthusiasm on the pitch knew that the team did not give their all and was disappointed for the fans who turned up with expectations high.

He told Footymad: “It was the worse possible start you could imagine really. Pre-season has been tremendous and everyone has done really well, you think everything’s in place but obviously things went wrong.

“I don’t know if the whole sense of the occasion got to the lads with the build up but to be honest that shouldn’t be the case as we are all experienced guys there but now it’s just bouncing back from this result so we have to go to Blackpool on Tuesday and be really positive.”

But he does say that the team played under their potential and does promise fans that they did not see the true Wednesday yesterday.

He continued: “The manager said after the game that there is more to come from the squad, but with the amount of fans who turned up on Saturday, they wanted us to do well but we disappointed them but they have not seen anything what this team are capable of yet.

“But hopefully we can prove that we are a good team and there’s more to come from us. We have to be positive going into games.”

The Owls take on Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday -a team who beat Chris Turner's men four times last season!
