Burton off as Owls draw

The Owls striker was involved in a bizarre incident during the second game of Wednesday's Dutch tour and was dismissed late in the first half.

To make the game fair, Heerenveen, featuring former Owl Gerald Sibon, played the second half of the friendly with ten men to level the sides up - although the circumstances behind Burton's dismissal were strange to say the least.

Wade Small fowled Heerenveen goalkeeper Brian van dem Brussche although Burton disagreed with the referee's decision - the official, R Bossen summoned the Jamaican international over but Burton took his time to walk over to the man in the middle.

Bossen then flashed the red card at Burton before the rest of the Owls squad surrounded the referee questioning why the former Derby man was sent off.

Brian Laws is hoping the decision, which overshadowed a game where Wade Small and Chris Brunt put The Owls ahead on two separate occasions, will not be in the referee's report otherwise the club will have to appeal.

If any appeal though is unsuccessful - then Burton could miss the first few games of the new season.
