Buxton is Wednesday's best

Sheffield Wednesday's player of the season for the 2012/13 season is Lewis Buxton. The right-back has been a consistent performer throughout what has been a difficult Championship season for the Owls and he has featured in over 40 matches during this campaign.

As well as performing resolutely at the back Buxton frequently offers an attacking outlet and his crosses has produced some important goals over the course of the season.

The 29-year-old accumulated 35% of the total votes on the Owls official website, www.swfc.co.uk goalkeeper Chris Kirkland was runner up on 27% and centre-back Anthony Gardner shared 3rd spot with winger Michail Antonio on 11% each.

The Owls face a nervous finish to the season when they face Middlesbrough at Hillsborough on Saturday. A win would guarantee their Championship safety but they could be relegated if they fail to pick up 3 points and results elsewhere do not go in their favour.
