During his time at Hillsborough Ekoku, the former Wimbledon and Norwich striker, made 71 appearances and scored 21 goals, the first of these goals coming in a Worthington Cup win over bitter rivals Sheffield United.
Ekoku is now free to move to another club nearer his home in the south of England.
