Birmingham Vs Wednesday: Team news & preview

Sheffield Wednesday face Birmingham City at St. Andrews today and Jos Luhukay has brought his captain back into the side following the midweek defeat at QPR.

Tom Lees found himself on the bench after a poor display against Middlesbrough but returns to the side after the Owls were beaten 3-0 without him on Tuesday. The former Leeds United centre-back comes in for Daniel Pudil who took a kick to the face at Loftus Road and is not included in the squad for this afternoons game. Liam Palmer also comes back in, replacing Ash Baker at right-back and Steven Fletcher starts ahead of Lucas Joao in attack.

Birmingham line up without former Owls winger Jacques Maghoma after he picked up an injury during the midweek win against Reading. Striker Isaac Vassell, who scored the only goal of the game in this fixture last season, remains sidelined with a hip injury.

Wednesday went into the recent international break in 6th place in the Championship but 2 defeats in a row since then has seen them fall to 14th place. Birmingham are on a 10-match unbeaten run and are a point above the Owls in 12th position.

The Owls were well beaten at home by Birmingham when they last met at Hillsborough in February, suffering a 3-0 defeat and they also fell to a 1-0 defeat at St Andrews last September.
