Season set to get back underway in June

Sheffield Wednesday are gearing up for a return to action this month after the EFL confirmed the plans for the resumption of the 2019-20 season following the impact of the coronavirus.

The Championship is set to restart on June 20th with all clubs having 9 matches still to play in order to complete the season. The last match of the season is scheduled for midweek, 21st or 22nd July with the play-off final planned for 2nd or 3rd August, leaving a very short turnaround for the 2 legs of the play-off semi-finals.

Some clubs, including  the Owls, have expressed their surprise at the restart date, stating they thought 27th June would be more likely given they are a week behind Premier League clubs in terms of formal training resumption, but they are committed at this stage to resuming and concluding the season.
