Changes in store as Owls look to avoid slip up

Sheffield Wednesday face a potential banana skin in the 4th round of the F.A. Cup on Saturday when they travel to League One side Shrewsbury Town.

Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal is likely to make changes to his side with the league a priority. The likes of Lewis Price, Liam Palmer, Jose Semedo and Modou Sougou will come into contention and there could also be appearances from players returning from injury including Lewis McGugan, Michael Turner and Alex Lopez. On-loan Aston Villa full-back Joe Bennett could make his debut.

Tom Lees and Marco Matias are close to a return but are unlikely to be risked just yet.

Shrewsbury will be without former Doncaster veteran Ritchie Wellens as he is cup-tied. Jermaine Grandison and Abu Ogogo could both return from recent injuries.

The Owls are unbeaten in 5 but have struggled at times away from Hillsborough this season. Shrewsbury beat League One leaders Burton Albion last weekend but followed that result up with a home defeat against struggling Oldham Athletic. They did however show their pedigree for a cup upset in the last round by winning away at Championship side Cardiff City.

Surprisingly given the historical league status of the two sides, Shrewsbury have the better head-to-head record though the only encounter in the F.A. Cup was won by the Owls after a replay back in 1963.
