Youngster ruled out

Sheffield Wednesday will be without youngster Sean Clare for the remainder of the season. The club confirmed today that the attacking central midfielder will sit out the rest of the campaign due to an ankle injury.

The 21-year-old had a successful spell on loan at Gillingham in the first half of the season and has managed to force his way into the first team picture at Hillsborough under new manager Jos Luhukay. Clare has benefited from the Owls injury crisis and has been one of the few positives of late. He made his debut as a late substitute in the Sheffield derby in January and has featured regularly in the squad since then including a fine performance in the 2-0 home win over Derby County and more recently scoring his first Championship goal in the defeat against Aston Villa. He is currently only under contract until the summer but has been offered a new deal by the Owls.

Better news for Wednesday is the potential inclusion of Barry Bannan, Sam Hutchinson and Joost Van Aken in the squad to face Leeds United on Saturday as all 3 have been involved in full first team training this week.
