Colchester Vs Wednesday: Team news

Last updated : 11 March 2008 By C. Morris

Sheffield Wednesday travel to Layer Road this evening in search of rare back-to-back Championship wins.

It is expected that the Owls will start tonight's game with the same team that started the second half against QPR at the weekend.

Deon Burton impressed when he replaced Enoch Showunmi just before the break on Saturday and likewise Sean McAllister who came on Ronnie Wallwork.

Wade Small was replaced late on in the weekend's game but it seems that was due to fatigue and he should be fit to play.

Colchester have no new injury worries and could field the same side that lost narrowly away to Crystal Palace at the weekend although Scott Vernon is pushing for a starting place up front. The U's remain without the services of injured veteran striker Teddy Sheringham who scored in their 2-1 win at Hillsborough earlier in the season.

Colchester are rooted to the foot of the table and are nine points adrift of safety. They have lost their last four league fixtures but have a good recent record against the Owls. They have beaten Wednesday in two of the last three meetings at Layer Road and history is against the Owls who have never won away at Colchester in their seven visits.
