Corr eyes killer touch - exclusive

The Irishman who came to Hillsborough as a 'development player' has been a mainstay in Paul Sturrock's squad in recent weeks despite not hitting the target.

His power in the air and hold-up play has impressed Wednesdayites and he should play a big part again against Coventry on Wednesday night but he knows he just needs to hit the back of the net to cap his excellent performances of late.

"That’s the way I feel – I am playing well and do just need a goal at the moment," Corr told Footymad. "Every level I have ever played I have always scored goals and it’s taking a while. I just think when I get one then the rest will start coming.

"I feel I have done well in the games which I’ve started. I have been working hard in training and the gaffer and his coaching staff helps me – I think I’m doing what they want me to be doing so hopefully I can continue to do that. Obviously I am still young, learning and a long way off being the complete player but I just need a few goals and that will do me no harm in good.

"Hopefully I get another start at Coventry. Obviously it’s unfortunate for Deon to be injured but that means I could stay in the side so I would be happy - I just want to keep my run in the side going, I want to do well and help the club stay up."

On Saturday's 0-0 stalemate with Palace, the former Leeds man added: "Before the game if you said we were going to draw 0-0 then we would have perhaps taken that but saying that now I think we played really well and should have beaten a team who were in the Premiership last season.

"We are not too disappointed though but we could have won. If you look at the game we had the better chances but they didn’t go in – that’s football so hopefully in the next few games we take them and hopefully we can get a result against Coventry.

"I think our club defends well as a unit, the 11 of us and against Palace we have had chances to score goals but like I said earlier, hopefully on Wednesday they will go in for us."
