Defender remains optimistic

Te former Rotherham defender was one of Chris Turner’s signings to be pushed out of the first-team fold when Paul Sturrock arrived – despite being on a two-year deal.

Since then, he has been injured and was sent out on loan to Peterborough United – seeing Richard Wood take his place in the centre of defence whilst being behind Lee Bullen, Graeme Lee and Patrick Collins in the pecking order.

He told the Sheffield Star: “I went to
Peterborough to get my fitness back. I've just tried to do everything he asked me to do.

"Woody has done well and the team are on a run. I don't want to leave. This is a great club to play for. I've got to bite the bullet for a bit and see if I get my chance."

Meanwhile, injury-hit Lee Peacock, who has had more comebacks than Barbara Streisand this season, scored twice for The Owls yesterday as they beat Walsall reserves 3-2.
