The young striker was out for the entirety of the last campaign and Sturrock was keeping his fingers crossed that the lightening-quick frontman would overcome his back problems to play a part this season.

But Talbot went down with a knee injury which was initially feared would keep him out for sometime but now the forward has said he will be ready – for the club's second game in the States against the USL all star team.

Sturrock will see his players play their first game of pre-season today with a behind-closed doors game with Rochdale.

The Wednesday boss will play all of his squad for at least an hour in the game which will be over three 30-minute periods instead of the two 45-minute halves.
