Duo - we were unlucky - exclusive

Stoke came to Hillsborough and got two goals against the run of play to leave Hillsborough with three points but Paul Sturrock's men battled well and were unlucky not to get at least a point.

Heckingbottom told Footymad: "The scoreline doesn’t reflect our performance – that’s been the same in the last few games to be honest. We have been a bit naive by getting caught out by their first goal and that changes the game – they could then sit back and defend in a different way and teams in this league are very good at that as opposed to last season."

Striker Graham, who is still not fully fit, put in one of his best performances of the season and agreed with the left-back that Wednesday showed a bit of naivety when it came to conceding the first goal.

"I think so," he admitted. "It was a long ball in, a one on one and a gift for the striker really. But they guys showed good character to come back at them although it was unlucky how they broke away to get the second goal.

"So far things have been a bit up and down for me personally to be honest: I’ve had a few injuries in the past month or so and that’s not helped me but I think I played reasonably well and hopefully I can carry that on to Saturday.

"I haven’t trained that much recently because I have had a few knocks and bruises but hopefully this week we can get some work in on the training field and I should get my full fitness back."
