Duo eye debuts - striker's loan exit

The Dutch winger, the first of two new signings this week, was cleared by the KNVB to play following his switch from Vitesse Arnhem and is set to replace Burton O'Brien to take his place on the left-hand side unless Brian Laws wants to use the 22-year-old's pace from the bench.

Sodje meanwhile should start in attack alongside Deon Burton with Marcus Tudgay the likely player to be dropped to the bench to accommodate the former Port Vale man.

Steve Watson is in contention for a recall after recovering from a stomach problem and could come in at the back to replace Richard Hinds or go into midfield - thus replacing Kenny Lunt.

Yoann Folly will be keen to be involved following his last-gasp winner for The Owls over Hartlepool on Tuesday night although it looks likely that he will have to settle with a place on the bench.

Rob Burch is set to give way for Lee Grant in goal for the televised clash with City - who are expected to give a debut to former Rotherham striker Darren Byfield - a recent signing from Millwall.

No Leon Clarke though following the news that he has joined Southend United on loan until the end of the year - a second spell away from S6 for the former Wolves man who enjoyed a successful few months at Oldham last season.

Despite Clarke scoring Wednesday's opening goal of the season in a 4-1 defeat at Ipswich, the striker has found it difficult to settle at Hillsborough and has not really impressed.

Rumours have it that club captain Lee Bullen could also be on his way out before the transfer deadline tonight with Inverness Caledonian Thistle reportedly having tabled a bid for the veteran utility man.

No defender has signed yet and it will be interesting to see whether a deal can be thrashed out or not before the midnight deadline as Wednesday are really in need of some toughness at the back but Laws is adamant he does not want to bring in anyone for the sake of it.
