No return in sight

Sheffield Wednesday fans have now gone over a month without seeing their team in competitive action and it may be a long time before they are able to do so in a live environment.

With 9 games of the 2019-20 season still to play no decisions have yet been made in the resumption of professional football in England and if and when the season is able to restart, matches could well be behind closed doors initially.

In Germany, a potential return date for professional football of 9th May has been proposed but they are on a different timescale in terms of the stage of their lockdown in relation to COVID-19 and even if this does go ahead, matches will be behind closed doors.

Just this week it has been reported that the chairman of the EFL, Rick Parry, has suggested that it may not be possible to allow fans back into watch games in stadiums until 2021 which may cause the start of the 2020-21 season to be delayed.
