End of season report, Number 10: Deon Burton

In the final few games of the season, Deon Burton played as big of a role as anyone in ensuring the Owls safety. Despite his missed penalty at Leicester he led the line well and made no mistake from the spot in the next game against Norwich and also added the goal that all but clinched the three points.

He was excellent in the win at Colchester and helped to turn the game around when he came on as a fist half substitute at home to QPR, having previously been somewhat out of favour.

That is the frustrating thing about Deon. When he returned to the team he showed the attributes he has. From a stature of only 5' 10", he holds the ball up very well and helps to bring other into play but when he is not in the mood he can come across as not being 100% committed and when he is not contributing in this manner it also highlights the fact that he doesn't get into a scoring position very often for a striker.

Overall season verdict: 6.5 out of 10. If he had shown the form and endeavour that he produced in the last quarter of the season throughout the campaign then surely he would have started more games and as a result had a better goal tally.
