England and Germany to clash in Dooley's honour

Sheffield United's Bramall Lane ground will play host to a match between two teams of legends from England and Germany, competing for the Derek Dooley Memorial Cup.

The fixture will be played in honour of the Owls goalscoring phenomenon and former Blades Chairman Derek Dooley, who sadly passed away in March of this year.

England will be led by Peter Reid and are likely to field a string of household names.

Dooley was more or less unique in the fact that he was held in the highest esteem by both Wednesday and United supporters and in addition to his valuable contributions to the history of both clubs he also played an active role in football at all levels within the city.

The match, which is being played a part of a three-match series to raise funds for the Red Cross China Earthquake appeal, takes place at Bramall Lane on Thursday 7th August with a 7.45pm kick-off.

With tickets priced at £10 adults and £5 concessions this represents great value and is a rare opportunity for Owls and Blades fans to come together and show their appreciation for a true Sheffield sporting legend.
