Fingers crossed for Owls trio

Three players currently in the Sheffield Wednesday 1st team have been called up for international duty this midweek.

Deon Burton could win his 50th cap for Jamaica as they play a home game against Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday.

Mark Beevers could be involved for England Under-19's as they take on Russia at Milton Keynes on Tuesday and loan signing Ben Sahar is likely to feature for Israel's Under-21's in a European Championships qualifier against Moldova.

While wishing the players the best of luck and hope that they do themselves and their countries proud, Wednesday fans will above all else be hoping that the players come back from their respective games unscathed and fit and ready for the relegation battle that lies ahead of the Owls as the business end of the Championship season approaches.

Other players on the fringe of the first team may also have a midweek run-out as the Owls reserves are scheduled to face Sheffield United reserves at Worksop Town on Wednesday evening.

Right-back Frank Simek was deemed not ready to return to the first team at the weekend but may be in line for a third consecutive reserves game as he steps up his return to fitness. The American has been out of the team since picking up an injury against Crystal Palace in December.
