Owls striker set for a spell on the sidelines

Sheffield Wednesday striker Steven Fletcher has been ruled out for 8-10 weeks following scans on the knee injury he sustained in the F Cup win at Brighton last weekend.

It was feared that the Scotland striker could be ruled out for the rest of the season but losing their top scorer for this length of time will still come as a big blow for Garry Monk's side.

The Owls were being linked with a move for a striker in the January transfer window to add more support to Fletcher so the speculation is likely to increase now as the need becomes greater. Monk has intimated that the club are considering options in terms of bringing players in on loan this month.
