Focus turns to rivals

With Sheffield Wednesday not in action until Monday evening, when former boss Paul Sturrock returns to Hillsborough with Plymouth Argyle, many Owls fans will focus their attention on the fortunes of the other clubs around the relegation zone this weekend.

With just three points separating 3rd bottom Leicester City and Blackpool, who are in 17th place, there are plenty of clubs that have work to do to ensure they do not end up playing League One football next season.

Leicester will be hoping they can climb out of the bottom three as they take on already doomed Colchester at home on Saturday.

Southampton (49pts) face a tough trip to Charlton who still have an outside chance of reaching the play-offs and Coventry (49pts) are at home against promotion chasing Stoke City.

Barnsley (49pts), boosted by a terrific win at Watford in midweek, face a tough trip to in-form Preston and Blackpool (50pts) travel to FA Cup finalists Cardiff City.

The nature of the Coca-Cola Championship this season suggests that predicting any results in this division is almost impossible but Owls fans will be looking for results to go their way in order to give the club the opportunity to move up the table if they can secure the right result on Monday.
