The French midfielder has been a revelation at Hillsborough since arriving from Southampton, initially on loan from Southampton before signing a one-year deal this summer.

He has firmly become a fan's favourite at Hillsborough and despite the club going through a massive transition period in the last few weeks, Folly thinks the massed Wednesdayites have been a massive help.

He told Footymad: "We have a lot of fans who come to the home games and that has a massive influence on the players and we think it's great to have that amount of people behind you when you play. You can be losing in the last few minutes but you know that this crowd will push you on.

"I have played in France and the crowds you get there are not as large as we get at Hillsborough and not as supportive. When things are not going the way you would like, fans tend to stay at home rather than support the team so our fans are fantastic."

Folly also believes that the players have handled the sacking of Paul Sturrock well and are now looking to focus on the new era under Brian Laws.

He added: "We have to get on with our own jobs. It is at the back of our minds (when there is uncertainty) but we just have to do our best on the pitch and we have been doing that. I think it is hard when you don't have a manager, whatever your profession is, but you have to keep your heads down, work hard and keep doing what you do best.

"It's hard to put a finger on what went wrong at the start of the season. We did have a lot of injuries, in many games we were very unlucky, our bad luck was a mixture of everything but now thankfully things have changed for the best."
