Former Sheffield Wednesday favourite passes away

Sheffield Wednesday reported via their official website, www.swfc.co.uk  on Friday the sad loss of former Owls front-man Mick Prendergast who passed away on Thursday evening at the age of just 59.

Hailing from Denaby the local lad played in over 200 matches for Wednesday in an 11-year period from 1967 and scored 59 goals in the famous blue and white colours.

Despite numerous injury setbacks Prendergast was a fans’ favourite at Hillsborough and was the club’s Player of the Year in the 1973/74 season, he will be remembered fondly by supporters of that generation and beyond.

As a mark of respect and remembrance the Owls players will wear black armbands in Sunday’s home fixture against Crystal Palace and Owls-mad hereby offers its condolences to Mick’s family and friends.
