After yesterday’s shock announcement, Turner joins the likes of Ron Atkinson, David Pleat, Danny Wilson, Peter Shreeves, Terry Yorath and Paul Jewell to be sacked from seemingly one of the most challenging jobs in football.

An ideal choice for many would be West Brom boss Megson, a former Owls player and like Turner, a lifelong Wednesdayite.

Megson is currently doing a good job with The Baggies but his future is up in the air because of constant arguments with Hawthorns chairman Jeremy Peace.

Ternent did not get his contract renewed at Burnley but left Turf Moor as a hero after the sterling work he did there.

Wednesday fans will warm to him as he is not exactly best pals with Blades boss Neil Warnock and he does want to get back into football straight away.

So does Sturrock who was recently fired from Southampton: he did a fantastic job with Plymouth by getting them promoted from the old division three to division two and paving the way to their championship last season.

Moore
at Rotherham meanwhile would again be a good candidate after the terrific job he has done at Millmoor on a shoestring budget.

Rumours indicate he would be very interested with the job at S6 after taking The Millers as far as he possibly can.

Chris Waddle will also be applying for the job and he hopes it will be third time lucky after previously going for the role before.

The Waddler’s only management job so far was at Burnley where he did not exactly pull up many trees but did a fantastic job with Wednesday reserves, bringing through the likes of Owen Morrison, Alan Quinn, Leigh Bromby, Derek Geary and Steven Haslam to first-team prominence.

But whoever takes charge Mr. Allen, please for goodness sake make sure it is the RIGHT decision.
