Owls striker on fire

Sheffield Wednesday’s Gary Hooper moved joint-top of the scoring table in the Sky Bet Championship this weekend when he fired a brace in the convincing 3-0 win against Leeds United at Hillsborough.

Hooper started the season as a substitute in the 1-0 defeat at Preston on the opening day but has been a regular in the side since then and after a slow started he has scored 7 times in the last 7 games.

Indeed, the only game in those 7 matches in which the former Celtic striker didn’t score was the recent defeat at Birmingham where he had a headed goal incorrectly chalked off for offside.

The Owls return to action at bottom of the league Bolton Wanderers when the Championship returns after the international break and Hooper will hope to continue his fine form as Wednesday look to build on their current mid-table position.
