In-form Tykes to offer tough test for Owls

Sheffield Wednesday host local rivals Barnsley on Tuesday evening as they look to keep pace with the Championship's top six.

Wednesday will continue to be without influential forward Fernando Forestieri through suspension and fellow striker Gary Hooper due to injury.

Steven Fletcher made a scoring appearance as substitute in the 2-1 defeat at Reading on Saturday and will hope to start if his niggling knee-injury does not prevent him from doing so.

Daniel Pudil could return at left-back if Carlos Carvalhal want to give record signing Adam Reach a chance to play further up field.

Barnsley will be without Marley Watkins who serves the final game of his 3-match ban but the Tykes, managed by former Owls full-back Paul Heckingbottom are unlikely to want to make too many changes have enjoyed back-to-back victories.

Wednesday's narrow defeat at Reading brought to an end a 3-match unbeaten run. Barnsley have recovered from a slump in form to record two fine wins against play-off hopefuls Birmingham and Norwich and they have won 4 and lost 4 of their 9 away games.

The Owls have enjoyed narrow victories in their last 2 home games against Barnsley but blew a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 on the opening day of the 2009-10 season and lost 1-0 at Hillsborough the season before that.

An away win would see Barnsley move above the Owls in a very congested Championship table.
