International star linked

Rasiak has been on of the most consistent marksmen in the championship in the last few years after netting 40 goals in two seasons.

He had previously recorded a goal every two games for Dyskobolia Grodzisk Wielkopolski before a move to Italy's Serie A was dropped after the prospective buyers exceeded their quota of foreign players before quickly being snapped up at Derby.

After a prolific year at Pride Park, a season later he went south to Tottenham Hotspur but quickly rejoined former Rams boss George Burley at Southampton on loan before a £2million fee was agreed.

But speculation has mounted that the player may be offloaded by Burley so the Scotsman can bring in fresh blood to add to their promotion push and partner first-choice Marcus Saganowski.

The link comes only a week after The Owls were linked with Rasiak's St. Mary's team-mate and former loanee Kenwyne Jones in a £2million raid.

Wednesday's number 9 shirt has been left vacant after Steve MacLean's departure to Cardiff City and there is no doubt that Brian Laws is looking for a hitman to add to his squad after being initially rebuffed for Scunthorpe United's Billy Sharp.

Wednesday play their second game of the pre-season tonight when they come up against Go Ahead Eagles in the first game of their Dutch tour.
