Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Lee Grant has received national recognition for his recent performances.

The former England Under 21 keeper celebrated his 26th birthday during January and as a reward for his fine displays thus far in 2009 he has picked up the PFA fans player of the month award as voted for by supporters via the Professional Footballers Association website, www.givemefootball.com

Grant proved his worth in front of the Sky TV cameras in the 1-1 draw with promotion chasing Birmingham on Saturday and this award is likely to attract further attention from within the England coaching set-up as they have already noticed his consistent good form this season.

The Owls custodian beat off competition from the likes of in-form Swansea striker Jason Scotland and Wolves hitman Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to scoop the January award.
