Key duo get through 2nd reserves outing

American international Frank Simek and veteran utility man Steve Watson are drawing ever closer to a timely return to the Owls first team following another successful run out for the second string.

Wednesday reserves drew 2-2 at home to Leeds United on Tuesday evening and both players again played for the entire 90 minutes.

Watson may be slightly ahead in terms of his fitness preparations and if he feels no ill-effects following this game he could be in contention to return to the 1st team squad for this weekend's home game against Crystal Palace.

The Owls can also take encouragement from the display of striker Enoch Showomni. The forward who is currently at Hillsborough on a loan spell from Bristol City has failed to score in his 8 first team games so far for Wednesday and has recently bore the brunt of some criticism from sections of the crowd so the two goals that he scored in this game should provide a boost to his confidence.

Another striker, Leon Clarke played for an hour before being replaced. Clarke was making his comeback having been out of action for around a month following knee surgery.
