Lee's the latest!

Bristol City hitman Peacock, who scored for The Robins in Wednesday’s draw at Ashton Gate last season, has the option of a new contract on the table but has not yet put pen to paper.

Ever since Danny Wilson was sacked after City’s play-off loss, new chief Brian Tinnion is looking for new firepower and has added Port Vale marksman Steve McPhee to the top of his shopping list, increasing the speculation regarding Peacock’s possible departure.

City chief executive Colin Sexstone told the Bristol Evening Telegraph: “Lee’s future is clearly uncertain and the new manager has made it clear a goalscorer is a priority.

”Providing the manager identifies what he wants, we feel optimistic that the board will back him, as they did with Danny Wilson.”

Sources close to Hillsborough though still seem confident that a deal for the second division’s leading scorer last season, Scott Taylor, can be completed.

Blackpool’s Taylor has long been linked with a move to Wednesday and despite The Tangerines’ chairman Karl Oysten claiming The Owls have acted ‘like a pub team’ in their pursuits, Turner is still interested.
