Lucas - I can replace Kev

Wednesday must bounce back after Saturday's disappointment against Colchester as they visit Bloomfield Road this evening (weather permitting!) and despite the bad start to the season, the goalkeeper has high expectations.

He told Footymad: "The spirit in the camp is good and there are a lot of expectations on our shoulders so hopefully it will turn out to be a good season.

"When I moved here from Preston I saw myself coming to a much bigger club, we have massive ambitions and hopefully we will be in the first division next season. I class coming here as taking half a step back to take three steps forward in the long term."

But replacing legend Kevin Pressman is a hard act to follow - a career which spanned over three decades at the club and one of the most loyal players in Wednesday's history but the former Preston player is more than up for the challenge.

He continued: "Just training with Kevin and working with him you could just tell he was a legend here and it was an honour but I think I am more than capable of being up for the task of replacing him and I hope I can stamp my own name in the history of Sheffield Wednesday."

Being a former North End player, he will undoubtedly get a bit of hassle from the home crowd but Lucas says it will not affect him during the game.

He said: "I am looking forward to Blackpool, it should take me about ten minutes to get there from my house! I will have a few family and friends over at Bloomfield Road but I have not played there for a few years to be honest but we have to go in looking for the three points.

"I am not going to take any notice of any grief the Blackpool fans give me; I’m not expecting a great reception thought!"

Lee Peacock will come in for Adam Proudlock to make his first start in attack for the club.
