Sheffield Wednesday striker Stevie May made his full international debut on Tuesday evening as a second half substitute for Scotland in the friendly fixture with England at Celtic Park.

The young Owls striker, who has recently been promoted to the senior national team having been impressive in his time playing for the under 21's, came on with just over 20 minutes to go and was greeted with a warm welcome by the home fans.

Scotland were already 2-0 down at the time and had offered little as an attacking threat but a few nice touches and lively movement saw the home side enjoy a little more posession in England's half than they had done previously and with 7 minutes left full-back Andrew Robertson reduced the arrears.

A smart passing move resulting in a Wayne Rooney finish from close range ended the contest with 5 minutes to go and capped one of England's most encouraging performances under Roy Hodgson.

Despite finishing on the losing side May's debut will be a moment for him to savour and he can be pleased with the contribution he made in his first appearance at this level.

Wednesday fans will be hopeful that he returns to his club buoyed by his experience and eager to find his scoring form in an Owls shirt when they make the short trip to face Huddersfield on Saturday lunchtime
