More injury woe for Wednesday

Diminutive forward ruled out.

Sheffield Wednesday have been dealt another injury blow with the news that Fernando Forestieri will not play again in 2018. The tricky attacker has recently returned from a hamstring injury and  came on as a half-time substitute at Blackburn Rovers last weekend only to hobble off towards the end of the 4-2 defeat.

It has now been confirmed that the 28-year-old has suffered a recurrence of the hamstring injury and has been ruled out for around 6-8 weeks.

Wednesday have been blighted with injuries for the last year and more. Forestieri missed most of last season with a knee injury, Kieran Lee likewise with a hip injury and he has since had to go under the knife for knee surgery without making an appearance this season. The likes of Steven Fletcher, Lucas Joao, Marco Matias, Sam Hutchinson and Sam Winnall to name but a few have all missed games though injury this season already.

The Owls are currently 16th in the Championship table and face local rivals Rotherham at Hillsborough on Saturday.
