Owls striker on target for Kosovo

Sheffield Wednesday striker Atdhe Nuhiu played a significant part on a historic evening for Kosovon football on Monday evening.

Kosovo staged their first ever competitive international on home soil, taking on Faroe Islands in the Uefa Nations League and the match will be a memorable one for the fledgling country as they triumphed 2-0 to record their first competitive victory.

Nuhiu was an unused substitute when Kosovo drew 0-0 with Azerbaijan last week but was picked to lead the line from the start against Faroe Islands and he proved his worth in the second half.

With the score 0-0 at half-time the home side took the lead 5 minutes after the break thanks to a fine strike by Zeneli and just 5 minutes later Nuhiu grabbed the crucial 2nd goal from close range.

With all 4 teams in the group having played 2 games Kosovo currently sit top of their Nations League table with 4 points.
