Sheffield Wednesday have added strength and depth to their midfield with the signing of David Jones from Burnley.

The 31-year-old moves to Hillsborough for an undisclosed fee having signed a 3-year-deal with the Owls matching the buy-out clause in his Burnley contract.

Jones was a popular player for the Clarets and has been an almost ever-present in their side over the past 3 seasons during which they twice achieved promotion to the Premier League. He started Burnley's opening game of this season in the Premier League on Saturday and it is something of a surprise to see him move away from Turf Moor.

Jones has also achieved promotion to the top flight with Derby County and Wolves during his career, only Kevin Phillips has been promoted to the Premier League more times.

The talented midfielder, a product of the Manchester United academy is a set-piece expert and will provide solidity to the midfield formation when required.

Jones will wear the number 3 shirt this season but his signature was not inked in time for him to feature for the Owls in Tuesday evenings game at Burton Albion.
