Owls and Foxes in need of points for different reasons

Sheffield Wednesday travel to Leicester on Saturday in search of vital points in their bid to avoid a return to League One. With a game in hand over most clubs in the Championship, the Owls are still within touching distance of mid-table. However, successive defeats in their last 2 matches has dragged them back to within 2 points of the bottom 3 teams.

Leicester have been struggling for consistency recently and they need a win to keep their slim hopes of automatic promotion alive whilst also solidifying their position within the play-off places.

The Owls continue to be without powerhouse left-back Reda Johnson due to a foot injury. Midfielder Giles Coke is struggling having picked up a foot injury in the midweek defeat at Watford and so either Jose Semedo or Rhys McCabe may be in line for a return to the starting line up.

Dave Jones chose to play with Connor Wickham up front with Michail Antonio and Jeremy Helan supporting from wide areas in midweek. This meant that Leroy Lita had to settle for a place on the bench. The Owls played well in the first half on Tuesday but crucially missed a number of chances and the on loan Swansea striker will be hoping to be back in the starting 11 on Saturday.

Leicester could be without full back Paul Konchesky for Saturday’s clash. The defender picked up a hamstring injury in the midweek draw with Leeds and is being assessed by his club.

Former Wednesday loan winger Ben Marshall will be hoping to return to the starting line-up having featured as a substitute in midweek. Marshall was a scorer when the Foxes won at Hillsborough earlier this season.

Wednesday have lost 2 in a row having previously lost only 1 game in 12. The midweek setback at Watford was their first away defeat in the league in 7 away matches.

Leicester have lost 3 of their last 6 league games including a home defeat to Charlton but they have taken 4 points from their last 2 home games thanks to an injury time equalizer against Leeds on Tuesday evening.

The Owls have won on 2 of their last 3 visits to Leicester but suffered a 3-0 defeat on their most recent trip in 2009. Leicester enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 win at Hillsborough when the teams met in November.
