Sheffield Wednesday have today confirmed that 1st team captain Glenn Loovens has signed a new deal to stay at Hillsborough.

The 31-year-old formed a solid central defensive partnership with Tom Lees during the first half of last season before injury hampered the second half of his campaign and he will be keen to get back to action next season though he faces new competition for his place in the form of new signings Darryl Lachman and Vincent Sasso.

Dutchman Loovens, whohas made just over 50 appearances for the Owls since joining the club in 2013, has signed a 1-year contract.
