Palmer in contention for UEFA qualifying

Sheffield Wednesday full-back Liam Palmer has been named in Steve Clarke's first Scotland squad for their upcoming UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers. Scotland face Cyprus at home on June 8th and travel to Belgium 3 days later.

Palmer has had a solid season for the Owls, performing particularly well since Steve Bruce took over at Hillsborough in February. He usually plays at right-back but has looked equally comfortable in the left-back position in recent weeks.

Seasoned Scotland internationals Steven Fletcher and Barry Bannan have not been included in the squad though Fletcher especially may benefit from a break having played through injuries a lot during the second half of the season.
