Huge blow add salt to the wounds of derby defeat

Sheffield Wednesday manager Tony Pulis confirmed on Saturday evening the central defender Dominic Iorfa is likely to miss the rest of the 2020/21 season. The former Wolves man limped out of the home defeat to South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley on Saturday and is thought to have ruptured his Achilles.

Iorfa is expected to undergo surgery on Monday with the injury likely to keep him out of contention for 6 months, meaning that he is unlikely to kick another ball in competitive action until next season.

It is a big blow for Wednesday as Iorfa's pace and power at the back will be sorely missed. The Owls have also been without fellow centre-back Aden Flint due to injury and although Chey Dunkley made his first Owls appearance in Saturday's defeat, it was his first game since February following a leg break and the club will be wary about taking risks with his fitness at this stage.
