Owls ease striker crisis

Sheffield Wednesday have moved to ease their current injury problems by signing Enoch Showumni on an emergency loan from Championship rivals Bristol City.

Manager Brian Laws has made the move after Akpo Sodje joined Francis Jeffers on the injury list and with Leon Clarke in need of an operation in the near future the Owls options up-front had become limited.

The tall striker joins the Owls for one month and will be available for the visit of Ipswich Town to Hillsborough on Saturday providing all the necessary paperwork is completed. Under the terms of the agreement with Bristol City he will not be able to play for Wednesday when they visit Ashton Gate to face his parent club on February 9th.

The 6ft 5in forward joined Bristol City in 2006 from Luton Town and has scored 13 times in a total of 44 appearances for the club but has fell down the pecking order this season and had been touted with a move to league one side Leeds United earlier in the current transfer window.

With less than six hours remaining before the transfer window closes it remains to be seen as to whether this will be the Owls last piece of business, owls-mad.co.uk will keep you posted with any further developments.
