Forestieri receives suspension

Sheffield Wednsday striker Fernando Forestieri has received a 3-match ban following an FA investigation into the Owls pre-season fixture at Mansfield Town.

Forestieiri admitted a charge of violent conduct and will miss the forthcoming Championship fixtures against Stoke City at Hillsborough and the trips to Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.

Trouble flared towards the end of the match at Field Mill in July when Forestieri, who had been the subject of some old-school defending throughout the match, reacted badly to being taken out off the ball. After the final whistle blew numerous players from both sides got involved in a kerfuffle and Mansfield's Jacob Mellis was seen to subject Tom Lees to a flying kick in the chest. Mellis has also picked up a 3-match ban. The two players and both clubs have also received fines.

It has taken the FA six weeks to review the incidents and reach these conclusions.
