Palmer features twice for Scotland

Sheffield Wednesday full-back Liam Palmer had a busy week during the international break as he played in both of Scotland's Euro 2020 qualifying matches.

Last Thursday evening Scotland's slim hopes of qualifying from Group I were ended by defeat in Russia. Steve Clarke's team defended manfully for the best part of hour but fell apart in the second half and lost 4-0.

On Sunday they beat San Marino 6-0 at Hampden Park with Aston Villa's John McGinn scoring a hat-trick. Palmer started both games at right-back and although Scotland can no longer qualify via the group, they can still make the finals via Nations League play-offs and the 29-year-old will be hoping to keep his place in the team as they look to make a major tournament final for the first time since 1998.
