Owls get early opportunity for cup revenge

Sheffield Wednesday face one of the toughest tasks possible in order to progress in the F.A. Cup following the draw for the 3rd round of the competition this evening.

Stuart Gray's side make the trip across the pennines to face Premier League champions Manchester City. The two sides have already met at the Etihad Stadium in the League Cup this season when the Owls suffered a crushing 7-0 defeat in September so the draw offers Wednesday the opportunity to get revenge on their illustrious opponents.

Elsewhere in the 3rd round draw the Owls city neighbours Sheffield United travel to Queens Park Rangers, non-league Blyth Spartans were rewarded for their progress with a home tie against Birmingham City, Dover host Crystal Palace, Gateshead travel to West Brom and Derby County play host to Southport.

The 3rd round ties take place around the weekend of 3/4th January 2015.
