Wednesday squad beat Shrewsbury in Portugal

Sheffield Wednesday faced Shrewsbury Town in a training match in the Algarve on Tuesday evening with Steve Bruce taking the chance to give his squad a work out.

The Owls changed their outfield team completely at the break and used their 3 senior goalkeepers for 30 minutes each with Keiren Westwood keeping a clean sheet in the first half-hour on the day that his new 2-year contract with the club was announced.

Lucas Joao scored from close to give Wednesday the lead in the first half following good work by Fernando Forestieri and Sam Winnall doubled the lead midway through the second half, latching on to a fine ball from Kieran Lee.

Wednesday gave run outs to Moses Odubajo, Julian Borner and Kadeem Harris. The Owls step up their pre-season programme back in England this weekend when they will send teams to games against Lincoln City and Stocksbridge Park Steels.
