Sheffield Wednesday have made their first addition to the playing squad in this January transfer window with the acquisition of Michael Gray.

The 34-year-old former Sunderland player joins on a one-month loan deal from Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Gray enjoyed a productive season for Wolves in 2007/08 following a free transfer move after leaving Blackburn but has seen his first team opportunities restricted this season.

The left-sided player made his name as an attacking full-back but has more recently been employed as a wide midfielder and this is where he is expected to be utilised by the Owls with left winger Etienne Esajas currently out injured and Wade Small also struggling to maintain fitness.
